Noted Festival Artwork, Day 3 – May 6, 2017

This is the artwork I created for Day 3 of the Noted Festival as Illustrator in Residence.

The first session was the Girls Write Up event hosted by Noted in partnership with The Stella Prize. I was able to attend Winnie Dunn’s inspiring keynote address on the importance of diverse representation in our literature. I wish I could have stayed for the whole day. xx

The second session I attended was a neat panel on the importance of art in our society, hosted at Smith’s Alternative Bookstore. Speakers were¬†Ellen Harvey, Emma Rose Smith, Grace O’Brien and Neha Kale.

The third session I attended was a neat panel on the good, bad and ugly of writing and editing, hosted at Smith’s Alternative Bookstore. Speakers were Alan Vaarwerk (Kill Your Darlings), Sian Campbell (Scum Magazine) and Irma Gold.

Hope you like them.

Noted Festival Artwork, Day 2 – May 5, 2017

This was the artwork I created for Day 2 of Noted Festival.

The first images are my interpretations of poetry stanzas I heard at a rotating poetry session held at Smith’s Alternative Bookstore.

Art inspired by Miranda Lello’s terrific poem The World on Sir J Herschel’s Projection by John Bartholomew.

Art inspired by Andrew Galan’s poem Black Sun.

Art inspired by Allis Hamilton’s Whence.

The next set of art is from a professional development session called Ghosts in the Seams with award-winning horror writer, Kaaron Warren,  held at the Green Shed Underground. This involved trying on secondhand clothes to discover character.

WHAT I’M READING

I went minimalist with the colouring on these to keep the images bold and eye-catching. Hope you like them.
